Brooklyn Friggin' Bridge, you knowwhatImean?

NYC in March of 2010.

World's easiest video to make. Set down the camera, turn it on, sit back on the bench with Pastor John the (Robotic) Baptist, and watch all dem people walking by doing their thang. If you think it was anything but a nearly perfect day, then Grady, you crazy!!!

Was checking in for my daily dose of eye candy....but then this....What? (the music made it)

Awesome use of music with the video. The boys want to know if anyone tried to take your camera or if anyone knocked it over.

Julie: Thanks! The music is really fun, isn't it?

Technoprairie: First of all, I'm sorry for the use of "Friggin" on there. My kids rarely see my blog, but today Nora saw it and asked me what "friggin" meant. I told her it's not a very polite word, and she asked me why I would use a word that's not polite. My response: Ummmmm.....well....ummmm

Technoprairie: to answer your questions, no, no one tried to steal it. My greater concern, by far, was that a biker wouldn't see it and run into and get hurt. That didn't happen, though, because bikers were supposed to stay to the right of the line. For walkers, if they were walking close to the white stripe, I'd point to the camera so they'd be sure to see it.

You should have told Nora that a privilege and burden of being an adult is that one is able at times to be impolite. And while it is often not the best course of action, one has been so repressed from impoliteness in childhood that any vestige brings surprising emotional satisfaction.

Alternatively, you can say (correctly) that your readers aren't very polite and you were trying to make content amenable to their unrefined sensibilities.

S-S: where were you yesterday when i needed you, huh?

perhaps with all your computer science background, you can help me set up a hidden skype system and an earpiece so in the style of cyrano de bergerac (except for all of life in all tricky situations) you can help guide me through conversaton. if nothing else, it'd add a little swagger to my style. which would be nice.

S-S - do not bite on that offer from MB. Some have already been trying that with him for years...to no avail. TK can I get a A-men??

Hidden Earpiece Conversations Past:

"Mike, do not - repeat, do NOT, N as in Nancy, NOT - abandon your daughter's confirmation class to go into that dark church room."

"Mike - MICHAEL - PUT THAT CROSS DOWN. Hey - HEY -- is that your camera??"

"Mike - get out of the fountain - repeat - GET OUT OF THE FOUNTAIN."

"Look, Mike, he may be SAYING it's pickle juice in that jar on his porch - but if it don't look like pickle juice, it probably isn't. Use your brain, son."

"For the love of God, we've been at the bean for two hours now. What about your speech? Hello, is this thing even on??"

Andy D-I also shouldn't bite because I think life should resemble a gothic horror novel and I am easily distractable. I would guide MB into a dark and mysterious room filled with unspeakable dread, and then I wouldn't notice him screaming for advice on how to deal with unimaginable horrors from the pit of Hell because I would be making coffee.

Everybody knows that Grady is crazy.

S-S: mmmm....coffee.

ST: Trte.

Very, very cool.

Andy D. said...

S-S, if by "unimaginable horrors" you mean clowns, dentists, and an aging Marlon Brando lucid enough to converse intelligently, then I say you are correct, madam, so let your easily distractable conscience be your guide.

But if I may suggest -- most of whatever horrors you're thinking of have, I'm betting, already been well-imagined by MB during his long nights up. Therefore, go for it.

Discussion point for the blog:

I agree, or disagree, with the following statement recently made by MB: "'The Dylan Painting' is not JUST gray."

Discuss, and give reasons (obvious or not...).

Andy--the edge of the painting is a different shade, bro, and he the painting is absolutely the same shade. there are variations, man. get with the program.

Claudia--now see, this is a sensible and lovely comment. Thanks, yo.

Andy D. said...

The edge...

"Andy, the one-dimensional LINE is a different color. Specifically, mid-gray, rather than soft mid-gray."

Boom.

"There’s a stranger speaks outside her door
Says take what you can from your dreams
Make them as real as anything
It’d take the work out of the courage

"But she says, 'Please
There’s a crazy man that’s creeping outside my door,
I live on the corner of Grey Street and the end of the world'

"There’s an emptiness inside her
And she’d do anything to fill it in
And though it’s red blood bleeding from her now
It’s more like cold blue ice in her heart
She feels like kicking out all the windows
And setting fire to this life
She could change everything about her using colors bold and bright
But all the colors mix together - to grey
And it breaks her heart
It breaks her heart
To grey"

I hate to cross talk, but Andy D....Your earpiece conversations were fantastic. Do you by chance have an earpiece attached to mine because those are direct transcripts of conversations I have had with professormikey.

But then you made me somber with your poem of gray. But could I suggest a tweak? Add one more line at the end..."But then she noticed a slight change in the shade of gray and everything was fine."

Andy D. said...

TK - thank you! Yes those were an amalgom of conversations you and/or I could have had - and likely, did have had (?) - with him. I'm sure they sounded familiar!

Re the poem - great input - very positive! I can understand the suggestion!! But I can't take credit; those are the final verse/chorus of one of my favorite songs by the Dave Matthews Band, "Grey Street.". Ya gotta take a listen. I love the song. Love it. I certainly don't compare it to art on the level of The Dylan Painting, however.

And I'll just leave it at that.

love the video, dawg. the music is unequivocally gangsta, in its own way.

how sick was i that day? i hope my illness didn't impinge on your "flossin," as it were.

Mike Bailey said...

you sick as a dog, jb. thankfully with camera in hand, i put away all thoughts of other people's suffering. so nah, you didn't impinge on nothing.
