It's that time of the year!!

Bees!!!

I'm back, baby, and it feels so good.

I'm drawn to bees the way monkeys are drawn to tricycles.

The way hurricanes are drawn to lesbians and Wiccans.

The way botox is drawn to Vanessa Williams' forehead.

The way grandparents are drawn to death on the eve of their grandchildren's college final exams.

The way thinness is drawn to Michael Jackson's nose.

It's in the order of things.

It's all good.

And it feels good.

The way bees are apparently drawn to small pieces of a rendered squid...

Speaking of Bees...

An entire Hive has taken up residence in a large pine tree located spitting distance from my front door. You may come to Augusta any time you would like to photograph these bees. All I ask is that you give them a ride back to Berry when you leave.

i'm drawn to small pieces of rendered squid, too. as are we all.

andy d., do you feel badly that i hardly ever respond to your notes? i so long ago conceded that i'd forever be the loser in our comedic one-upmanship contests that i tremble at the thought of triggering you to bust out the big guns.

matt ryan--

first of all, good to have you on board. i'm confident that visiting me regularly will change your life for the better. you'll certainly feel less guilty and self-loathing in comparison.

so you got that going for you.

i got to say that i'm mr. courageous in the face of a couple of bees or three. because bees are vain, too. they like a camear lens close to their thousand eyeballs. but a swarm? then jealousy kicks in, and they get angry. swarms are not my speciality.

Glad to have the admission you are ignoring me, and the explanation as well.

All I can do is offer this tidbit from Confucius: "Man who photograph bee through telephoto lens have no big gun, only yearning heart."

Or translated to the modern day: "You d@#! right he ain't truckin no bee hive 'cross the state."

Great capture of the bee's wings.

BTW, where're my props for this shot? Wasn't this the one where I was making sure you didn't get mugged by those two dudes from Tennessee who wanted to give you a tour of some cemetery?

Gee, whiz, the Garden District can be fraught with peril, after all...
