Golgotha

In NOLA I saw this door, partly in the shade, with three crosses, along with other marks of grafitti.

So then I was confronted with this question: What prompted me to see the crosses? Was it my chronic anxiety about my sinfulness, or my photo sensibilities?

Or both?

Or could you be thinking of another religion entirely, given that the symbolism of the cross predates Christianity?

Alternatively, from a theological perspective, shouldn't crosses indicate to you that you no longer have to worry about sin?

i grant that you ask good questions, s-s. good from the perspective that, oh, they are thoughtful and interesting. but bad from the standpoint that, well, look what you've done--you've gone and confused me again.

1. i did not know that they symbolism of the cross predates christianity. my theory? it doesn't predate christianity.

2. i think you're quite right that the cross is a sign for believers of their release from the guilt of their sins--it's a sign of triumph.
