Actually I don't have time for counting, Abe, but trust me--there's lots of 'em.

How in the world did you get a picture of Abe without other tourists taking pictures of him? That is the truly amazing thing about these pictures.

the memorial was packed. but most people see a statue facing a certain stay directly in front of it. the memorial has the main hall, but it also has two wings. virtually no one was in the wings. and certainly no one was to the side of old abe. scores of people were taking straight-on pictures of abe that included the back of people's heads.

you see the columns in the picture because they are what separate the main hall from the wings.

oh, and the fact i broke through the red velvet ropes and sat on abe's lap to take that picture of his hand. that helped, too.
