As the election results come in tomorrow I hope I can echo the words of an American now dead who once said, "Our long national nightmare is over."
Let it be so.
I posted the most exuberantly cheerful and happy non-portrait I own.

Talk about coming out into the sunshine.
It's how it feels to me. The rule of law matters, and we've had eight years of contempt for that. Information flow matters. Due process matters.
More than power matters.
It's time for a change, baby.
woohoo! i ditto dat.
Yes we did!
sadly, only now are we going to see the real ugliness. but i think the Big O an handle it. there's this great quote of his in rolling stone magazine in which he calls the irresponsibility of the past eight years as "breathtaking." i love that. because it's my concern precisely. the carelessness with which the W team approached governance was just amazing. in lots of ways i was closer ideologically to Mac than O, but Mac's team needed some accountability. also their disregard for the Constitution was terrifying.
Have I mentioned that I live in a newly blue state?
