one of those pictures that i like that i doubt will have much appeal to others. i think there's something terribly lonely and sad about this picture.

Inside: Photos of eyeballs, bees, eyeballs, blue hands, and eyeballs. Also inside: Thoughts I want you to read and to live by and, when especially inspired, to set to opera. Also inside: my fight against vegetable tyranny. Just a little something I do so you don’t have to. You're welcome. Come on in and get your jibber jabber on!

i think stone and wood together are stunning, in nature, in kitchens, wherever.
i wonder why that's such a natural response to that combination. it's my response as well, though not with the same intensity as yours.
i remember in college i took a 19century brit literature class from a professor who was charismatic and who made us come to believe that somehow we were very privileged to read these works. cliched as it sounds, he was able to bring so much life to passages that i had just passed over without giving them any thought.
we were reading wuthering heights (i think) when he pointed out the recurring theme of fire in the book. he spoke of fire's primal draw for humans, how we can hardly prevent ourselves from gazing into a fire and drifting away in thought. and then he said something to the effect that staring at microwave ovens just doesn't bring the same satisfaction.
so maybe we're wired to appreciate the basic building blocks, so to speak, of our world.
