I think it is because they are all facing the observer. Too much uniformity to really look like they are floating.

and you know what, now that I think about it I must say you're wrong: flowers CAN float in space. They just choose not to. so there.
Well, when they are floating in space, I know I can't hear them scream.
Gestalt. The flowers, despite the missing sections, are still growing in the pattern in which one finds them on a bush. Our minds fill in the rest.
